ARTIST’ S PROFILE

Larry C. Guillema was born to a simple family on August 15, 1968 in Negros Occidental. He was a student at La Consolation College, where he took up Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Advertising

In 1984, Larry became a member of Concerned artist of the Philippines – CAP – Negros, founded by the late film director Lino Brocka, he performed in various tour and stage Island tour productions in various Universities and the Cultural Center of the Philippines - CCP, He joined the Negros based Black Artists in Asia, in 1996.

He worked briefly as a Set Design Staff of PETA Broadcast and Film Productions. He was a Visual Section head in Dagyaw Cultural Development Service Center ( DCSC ) His job was to conduct visual arts workshops and exhibitions.

Then in 1994-1995, Larry worked in Footprints International- A Canadian-Filipino Theater Ensemble in Canada; he was a member of International Environmental Theater Exchange, Study Tour and Performance. The group toured the different communities and discussed local issues and collected stories. They went back to the communities and performed in a form of drama, music dance and painting presentations. On the same year he was also a performing artist in Precipice Theater Society in Banff and Alberta, Canada. This was a summer tour and he performed story about the migratory birds from South America to North America in 1996-1997.

Larry Guillema worked as an Actor in Values Media Incorporated (VMI) in Mandaluyong City, this is on various staged productions for children, family values, communities and other social issues, staged at the Cultural Center of the Philippine - CCP. In 1998 – 2005, his recent employment was in People’s Agricultural Plan for the 21^st Century (PAP21), working between the Negros and Japan Children, Women and Youth Exchange Program, and Farmers Exchange Program. Two years ago, Larry went to Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan, to display his works and conducted Cultural Workshops for Children, Youth and Women of Kanagawa.

His recent works are patronized & collected by Japanese, Canadian and other Filipino Collectors, groups and Cooperatives here and abroad.
